Suggest Treatment For Muscle Pull In Lower Back

default
Posted on Fri, 30 May 2014
Question: I am contemplating seeing my physician. I believe I probably just pulled a muscle in my lower back…..left kidney area. It has been sore and tender for 3 days now. However, I worry about things like kidney stones. I have no other symptoms, no fewer, urine and urinating are fine.

Brief Answer:
Muscle relaxant drugs along with Ibuprofen helps

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query
After going through your suffering, a pulled muscle/spasm usually leads to difficulty in bending forward or sideward with stiff back, do you have that?
We usually treat pulled muscle by –
1. Rest, Hot water fomentation, local gel/spray application (Dynapar gel or Dynapar qps spray) along with pain killer like Ibuprofen and muscle relaxant (Metaxolone, Thiocolchicoside).
2. Physiotherapy in form of short wave diathermy and TENS therapy also helps.

To rule out kidney stones the investigation of choice is Ultrasonography. But the pain of stones is intermittent, severe, spasmodic (colic) in nature and may be associated with nausea and vomiting. This pain radiates from back to front depending on the site of stone.
I hope this information suffices. If you have further query I shall be glad to answer.
Wishing you good health
Regards
Take care
