Brief Answer:
Kojic acid is not a steroid and it doesn't have any major side effects

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome again
Kojic acid is not a steroid , it is a chelating agent produced by an fungus.
It is also a byproduct in fermentation process of malting rice

Kojic acid lightens the pigment in the skin and it may reduce melesma if it is used regularly for 2 to 3 months.

It doesn't have major side effect, tolerated very well.

Hope this answers your question
Please feel free to ask for more clarification
