Suggest Treatment For Lump Under Chin

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Nov 2014
Question: Hello, I have discovered 4 days ago a pea size lump under my chin to the left hand side - I think at submental lymph node area - and it feels hard, so i am a bit worried. It is something new i think, because I went to my ENT a month ago for a general check up and he checked the glands, including submental lymph nodes, as well as my nose and ears. He said everything perfect so i guess the lump wasn't there a month ago. Also, 6 days ago my wisdom tooth started growing and as there is not enough space in the jaw, it was a bit painful, and i was taking Voltaren for a few days. I don't know if this can cause the lump? What can it be?

Brief Answer:
ent consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If I were your treating Doctor for this case of lymph node enlargement (sub mental or sub mandibular(left side of chin), I would come up with the possibilities, these include:

The first possibility is due to infections of oral cavity- from teeth, gums, tongue or cheek.

The second possibility is enlarged sub mandibular gland secondary to virus, stones or due to medications.

As per your details, it appears to be a infection (pain, hardness and duration), any way , first consult ent surgeon to differentiate from sub mandibular gland from lymph node.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
