Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Appetite, Fatigue And Severe Acid Reflux

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: I have had a myriad of symptoms the last week and a half. I have had a loss of appetite, sleeplessness, fatigue, and severe acid reflux. I've been to the ER twice and the doctors have done an ekg, put me on a heart monitor, blood tests, 2 chest xrays and haven't found anything. Well, I woke up this morning and now I have pain on my right side area right above my crotch. I also have what seems like swollen lymph nodes in my crotch and my upper thigh is tender and swollen. I don't have any sort of a fever or anything but it hurts pretty badly. please help.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to STD or viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The pain above the groin with swollen lymph nodes and general symptoms that you are having is likely to be due to a generalized infection- it can be due to a local infection in the groin, STD or a viral infection.
So it is best to rule out STD’s first and then move on to investigate other causes of swollen lymph node.
For this, a FNAB (fine needle aspiration biopsy) of the lymph nodes and swollen glands is the best test. FNAB is aspiration of the material of the glands which is done by a fine gauge needle (22 or 25 gauge) and a syringe. This will confirm the diagnosis as swollen glands are often caused by an infection, allergic reactions, cancer or metabolic diseases.

Should I be concerned with something like appendicitis? The pain is located more in the vaginal region rather than lower abdominal but I didn't know if an inflamed appendix could cause pain in the vaginal area?

Brief Answer:
Not due to appendicitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Inflamed appendix does not cause a pain in vagina and does not cause the groin lymph nodes to swell up. This is not likely to be due to appendicitis.
Hope my answer is helpful.
