Suggest Treatment For Long Term Cognitive Impairment In Brain After Chemotherapy

Question: My wife has been informally separated from me for 1 year. There were no conflicts over monies. We are both 70.
Chemo brain: She has been cured of Breast cancer about the time she filed the papers (June 11) She presented the papers to me about 14 days ago YYYY@YYYY XXXXXXX has Chemo brain thus she is being influenced by her children. (See below) On top of that we both will loose money if there is a divorce. She lives now with my daughter and my son in a house I purchased for my daughter and is paid.
I am quite sure that she is not making a good decision. Maybe some type of court review in from of a judge would stop the Divorce from proceeding.
Presently:
•     She has access to the retirement fund, MetLife, through me and really has not used it.
•     Also it has a death benefit.
•     Misc. Inheritances etc.
•     House which XXXXXXX would eventually be able to move into upon my demise,
•     Car
•     Watch worth about 25,000 would go to Sylas at a certain age
•     Gold nugget bracelet
•     The Computer
•     Everything else in the house.
•     Enjoy the access to my SSDI
•     I would continue to stay in the house.
•     I offered with many hour of counseling, she could move into one of the rooms.
• XXXXXXX would not be able to do so.
• XXXXXXX would not be allowed in my house.
•     My income will as usual pay for the car.

With a divorce
•     MetLife Annuity with death benefits: I would make sure that the judge makes the decision on the percentages for MetLife and the house combined. The judge would be able to balance out the award. Possibly awarding me the house and possible I would get a lesser portion of MetLife
• XXXXXXX thinks that the MetLife Annuity and the house are two separate items, but research shows that they can be combined into one item.
•     My portion of the MetLife policy would be willed to my sister’s grandchildren.
•     The inheritance of the house if awarded to me would go to XXXXXXX and eventually to XXXXXXX
•     The watch, I would sell it and take half. Thus Sylas would not have it. Also, possibly retain it in my position until I die and then will it to Sylas.
•     The nugget bracelet I would also sell
•     The furniture would also be split, and XXXXXXX would have to pay me my portion of their value.
•     I would retain the SSDI
•     The PC I would retain and buy a laptop as she requested.
•     To date expense total 450 dollars.
•     She will need to continue paying for your car.
•     My response to her petition is that she should pay all legal expense. I believe she has a lawyer she has known for many years and may not charge her.

Brief Answer:
Yes some kind of judicial intervention is required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query. I am sorry to know your situation.

It appears that your wife is having long term cognitive changes in brain after chemo. This may cloud her judgement. Now she has filed for divorce and you feel that this is not her decision in sound mind and her children might be influencing her.

However, court ordered psychiatric assessment is required to prove that she is not acting in her full senses. You will need to consult a lawyer who can direct you accordingly, on how to approach the court, etc.

Hope this helps. I will be available to answer further followup, if any.
regards
