Suggest Treatment For Leg Cramps In Upper Thigh And Lump Like Feeling

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Mar 2015
Question: Hello....About a week or so ago I awoke with leg cramp in the upper thigh area of my left leg. I pressed on my leg where the artery is and the pain subsided enough for me to get back to sleep. While it has not gone away completely I can still feel cramp in that portion of my left upper thigh. Now I can feel a small lump very sensitive to touch about an inch long in that area. I have had blood clot problems in the past. I have had a triple hernia operation but the femoral was on the other side not the side that is showing a lump. It hurts when I walk ..and when I stand up...very sore to the touch. no discoloration. I am an active 57yo correctional officer who walks my entire 8 hour shift.

Brief Answer:
You need a ultrasound of that lump

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that you might be having a infected blood clot or pus collection in thigh which is causing pain and swelling. I would recommend you following.
1. Get ultrasound examination of that part to confirm cause of lump.
2. You might need antibiotics to take care of infection.
3. Pain killer like tramadol or Brufen may be helpful.
Avoid standing for long time, and hot water fomentaiton is also helpful specially to dissolve blood clot.
I hope this answer will be helpful to you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks.
