Suggest Treatment For Itchy Skin And Dizziness While On Cefuroxime
Question: Hi there,
I had to take Cefuroxime Antibiotics (500mg) for an epididymitis.
I have taken 3 pills so far. I have had an itchy skin and felt a bit dizzy every time a few hours after taking the pills.
Now I had blood in the stool. So i haven't taken any pills anymore.
I have attached a picture of the last stool.
Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Stop taking those pills.
I saw the picture. I could see blood streaked stool and blood clot.
Was your bowel movement painful?
How good are your bowel movements usually?

Thanks for your answer. No, bowel movement was not painful. I have had a kind of irritable colon. But it was never bloody. And haven't had too many problems for some time now

Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.
The amount of bleeding I could see from the picture is significant.
Some of the common causes of lower GI bleeding are hemorrhoids, anal fissure, colitis, inflammatory bowel disease etc.
I would advise you to get a colonoscopy done to find the cause of bleeding per rectum.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Dr.R.K.
