Question: i have a referral to PT for therapy for intermittent tingling and numbness from elbow to thumb in left arm/hand. i cannot get an appointment until 3-4 weeks in my therapy clinic. Doctor diagnosed it as from my neck and had recommended putting heat on it and slowly moving neck etc. Doing that until i get in to office am I risking damage until PT.

There is no harm and you are causing no damages to the neck if you wait for your therapist to make an appointment available for you. I feel sorry that you have to wait for the appointment.

Follow the instructions as under:-
*Apply "neck collar" for movement restriction as this is almost impossible to restrict movements otherwise, or to move the head slowly.
*Apply ThermaCare HeatWraps on both sides to neck and shoulders area and to the elbow and wrist of the affected side. It will give you a dramatic soothing effects of calmness and ease by providing heat to the deeper tissues and that's too in a constant fashion.
*You may also use the heatpad some time during the day for giving some rest to neck while your collar will be off of the neck.
*One multivitamin is necessary for you to take after breakfast.
*Keep a balanced healthy diet and you will feel so energetic.
