Brief Answer:
Giver her symptomatic treatment,no need to worry much.

Detailed Answer:
There could be possibility of infection.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query and reviewed the pictures, from which is could be spider bite or rat bite and very unlikely to be a bat bite.

However,it will not matter much whether it is a spider bite or any other bite since the treatment will be more or less same.

One thing is sure that they are usually not dangerous to life of a person but needs proper care and treatment.

Following measures are advised in case of this kind of spider bites,

1. Clean the bite with mild soap and water.

2. Apply cold packs to the bite, to reduce pain and inflammation.

3. Giver her over-the-counter pain relievers like tab.diclofenac with serratiopeptidase to reduce swelling, pain and inflammation and anti-allergic drugs like cetrizine 10 mg twice daily.

4. Apply any antiseptic (like soframycin or neosporin) cream over the bitten area.

5. Injection TT should also be given for a safer side if not given yet.

No need to give oral antibiotics since there is mild inflammation and from above symptomatic treatment, she will be alright within 2 or 3 days,so no need to worry much.

Hope your query is answered and will help you.

Fell free to ask if you have any doubts.

Regards,

Dr XXXXXXX kabra

Brief Answer:
Rabies vaccine should be taken following bat bite.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing again and you can ask anything irrespective of initiating thread.

Bats can also transmit rabies and even World health organisation also recommends anti rabies vaccine.

In XXXXXXX we recommend to take rabies vaccine for a safer side when you are sure about being bitten by a bate.

So, it is always better to finish the course of 4 injections of rabies vaccine following bat bite.

In your mother's case,it is unlikely a bat bite from those pictures.

Dr.Sandip Kabra
