Brief Answer:
daily cleaning with antiseptic and topical antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If it is infected then you would need to keep off the piercing till the infection resolves.
It will not fully improve if a foreign body (piercing) is present.

IN the time it takes to treat the infection, the hole will not likely close permanently.

The area should be cleaned twice daily with an anti septic (eg dilute betadine or dilute hydrogen peroxide).
A topical antibiotic can be applied , one of these can also be obtained over the counter eg bactroban, neosporin, polysporin, triple antibiotic

If the infection does not resolve with topical treatment then oral antibiotics may be needed. It can take up to a 7 to 10 days for complete resolution.

If oral antibiotics are needed would require a prescription from your doctor.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
