When was the procedure done and how was the hematoma confirmed?
This complication is fairly common.
My only worry is that it should not be a Pseudoaneurysm or a AV fistula due to the arterial puncture. If they have not done then you should get a Color Doppler test of the groin to rule out the above two possibilities.
Once it is confirmed that it is a hematoma, you need to apply pressure with a pressure bandage, Heparin ointment, warm compresses and anti inflammatory medicines. Rarely, the hematoma can get infected in which scenario you need to take antibiotics. You will know that there is infection if there is pain, redness, fever and difficulty in moving the part. In that case, you should go back to the Doctor who did the procedure who would be able to advice you the medications How long it will take to heal depends upon the size of the hematoma, patients age, etc. Most hemaotmas resolve over 3 to 4 weeks.
