Do Centralised Pain And Pressure On Head Suggest Brain Aneurysm?
Question: Hello,
When I was 13 I had a head injury and suffered a head injury which resulted in a hematoma and a concussion. Now I am 23 and I have been getting centralized pain and pressure above my right eye on my brow where I fell. Should this be a concern for a brain aneurysm. Can they develop years after head trauma?

1. Aneurysms are abnormal bulging of the walls of arteries. They can be 2 types that is native aneurysms and post traumatic pseudoaneurysms.
2. Native aneurysms are ones which are there due to a defect in the wall and have increased tendency to occur at some locations.
3. Post traumatic pseudoaneurysms are those following trauma and are located in the surrounding of an old trauma.
4. It is exactly not known where the hematoma occurred when you were 13 and the type of hematoma. If you had a hematoma like subdural or extradural then a chance of pseudoaneurysm is there, though rare in occurrence.
5. Concussion is the term for mildest form of brain injury which does not show any features on brain scan.
In conclusion, the possibility of a pseudoaneurysm in the location of previous trauma is not unheard of, though rare in occurrence. Consulting your neurologist and getting a brain MRI scan is suggested.
