Question: I am having runs of heart palpitations. I have anxie please help.ty because of them. I believe they are benign. I am at the walk in clinic. could you please let me know what I should be looking for in terms of a cause. they seem to happen anytime. if I lay down and relax, they will go away. these are new for me. they are driving me pretty crazy. what do I have to do to get a beta blocker? and will that make them go away. one or two here and there I can understand, but I have like 8 a minute in a run until I lay down. I cannot just be like this from now on, I will eventually go crazy or commit suicide. please help. I am happy and healthy otherwise.

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

First of all you should do a couple of examinations to find out what is causing the palpitations. Only then you can get a beta blockers.

If you were my patient I would recommend to do the following examinations:
- Blood work including thyroid hormones
- Ecg
- Holter monitoring
- Cardiac echo
- Stress test

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

Thank you. My ekg showed normal. I got a referral to a cardiologist for further testing. I also got a beta blocker. The ekg was only ten seconds so it didn't show any palps. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.

I took inderal for one day and it made them go away and I feel better. would this indicate an adrenaline issue?

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Since Inderal was effective in controlling palpitations, palpitations most likely are related to adrenaline excessive release.

It's a well known fact that anxiety is associated with an increased secretion of adrenaline. This explain your symptoms and the fact that Inderal is effective in controlling palpitations.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
