Suggest Treatment For Heart Palpitations, Fatigue And Nausea

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Oct 2014
Question: Hi -I have experienced heart palpitations, fatigue, nausea, and light/soft stools for over a week now. I feel the nausea becomes more intense after eating, thoughts of food cause revulsion. I have a geographic tongue that seems worse right now, everything has a funny metallic or clayish taste. My stools are light light brown and soft, and my body aches. The palpitations are fairly constant with exertion- even getting up from a chair. they are bothersome- causing me not to sleep on my left side- they are of the "Heart in throat" variety with occasional missing heartbeats- something feels like it is sticking.
I am 41, female, do not smoke and have experienced palpitations before but not to this extent.
Like I said- this has been happening daily for around 8 days now.
What is wrong with me? SHould I see a GP or a heart specialist?

Detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Metallic taste in the mouth and heart palpitations can be both caused by high potassium level. As you have nausea and lack of appetite, dehydration can be the main cause of high potassium level. If so, you should have dry mouth and dark urine. Your heart rate should be accelerated.
Now the main problem is to find out the reason of nausea. It might be gastrointestinal infection what is the most probable reason as you do have also loose stool.
I suggest you to start with soft diet, drink lots of liquids (mineral water, Gatorade) and start Magnesium 250 mg and Potassium 250 mg 3x1 supplementation. If this wont help in a day or two, you should consult your doctor.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
