Suggest Treatment For Headache, Fatigue, Nasal Congestion And Cough

default
Posted on Wed, 17 May 2017
Question: I have had a cold for 12 days. Headache, fatigue, nasal congestion and cough, most of my symptoms are gone except the congestion, however, today I am suffering shortness of breath even when sitting. I live at 7200 feet and run 3 miles 4 or 5 times a week, so not being able to breath is a bit unnerving.

Brief Answer:
A possibility of post infectious bronchitis is more.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on HealthcareMagic.
I can understand your concern.

By your history and description, a possibility of post infectious bronchitis is more.

Your initial symptoms like cough, cold, headache, fatigue, nasal congestion etc are suggestive of viral upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).

Viral URTI can complicate and cough bronchitis which gives symptoms of congestion and breathlessness.

So better to consult a Pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).

PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about the severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only.

You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) for the treatment.
Don't worry, you will be alright with appropriate treatment.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Wish you good health.
Thanks.
