Suggest Treatment For Hard Lump On The Palm Of Hand

default
Posted on Fri, 8 May 2015
Question: I have hard a hard lump in the palm of each hand; both appear to be on the ring (third) finger tendons. I had the same problem a few years ago, but they didn't bother me and slowly went away. This time, they're larger and are tender. What are they, and should I be concerned about them?

Dear Dr. Sharma: Thank you very much for your suggestion. I had been given the odd name of a condition that could explain my problem, but I couldn't remember it. No amount of searching on the Net led me to it, so I thought I might be steered in the right direction if I came here. While waiting for your reply, I made one more try and somehow landed on what I was looking for: Dupuytren’s Contracture. What I've read about this seems to hit the nail on the head, so, while I appreciate your time and consideration, I think I'll continue to follow that lead. Thank you again for your help.

Brief Answer:
Dupuytren's contracture can also cause such nodes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for replying. Though Dupuytren contracture can cause such nodes but it is more commonly seen in young male specially manual labour. If you can send me image of your hand than I can confirm the diagnosis.
It is a slowly progressive disease and in early stage steroid injections can be given.
In later stages you need surgery in the form of excision of the nodes.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other follow up questions.
thanks
