Suggest Treatment For Gum Inflammation And Pain

Question: Hi. A few days ago I felt like I had food stuck between my two teeth on the upper left side of my mouth- 2 teeth away from my front teeth. I brushed very hard and basically irritated the gum area near the roof of my mouth on the inside. The gum area hurt but not too bad. Then yesterday I was eatingsteak- and it got stuck between those teeth so I went to brush the teeth and then I flossed but flossed kind of roughly- I removed the food but re-aggravated the area and caused bleeding. I then rinsed with salt water and it hurt and I had lots of discomfort. Today I was eating a few things and that part of my mouth- the two teeth where the gum is inflamed really hurts. I ate a hard piece of candy and chips etc which def wasn't good. Years ago I had a apicotemy on that tooth so I hope I didn't re-injure this. The pain is throbbing and hurts when I bite but it's from my gum being irritated. It's not root canal pain just pain like with trauma. Will this get better? I had this on my bottom tooth once and my dentist said stop brushing and flossing so hard. But the two teeth that i flossed roughly in between hurt badly and the pain radiates to my cheek. I cant even bite. My dentist keeps saying its trauma and nothimg to worry about. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Severely inflamed gum can cause lot of pain..l

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
If there is pain in between the teeth only and not on any specific tooth then it can be probably gum inflammation..

At times the food particles can get embedded deep into the gums and many a times it becomes difficult to remove it with toothbrush or flossing.
It becomes a continuous source of irritation to the area and can cause severe pain and inflammation..

An x ray can however be conclusive and help in evaluating whether the problem is only with the gum or the tooth..

As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and pain..
Continue doing warm saline gargle.
You can apply Lidocaine gel over the painful gum to relieve pain..

Brief Answer:
Yes, gum can cause it.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Yes, the gum can cause the pain in both of your teeth but I still suspect tooth related problem.
An x ray will be helpful anyway.

Did you follow the remedies I advised?
Did they help you?
