Brief Answer:
There is a single 1.0 cm freely moving stone with gall bladder inflammation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in details.
The ultrasound report of your wife shows the presence of a 1.0 cm stone in the gall bladder. The gall bladder is an organ where the bile gets collected from the liver. When we eat something then the bile is let out of the gall bladder and in to the small intestine to help in digestion.

In your wife, there is a stone that is moving around the lumen of gall bladder and this might have occurred due to fasting for long periods, consumption of fatty meals or as an inborn tendency to form stones in gall bladder. She is also having inflammation of the gall bladder wall which has been written as cholecystitis.

When we talk about gall stones, 10 percent of population can have a single stone measuring up to 1.0 cm without symptoms. In the absence of symptoms nothing needs to be done for a single stone. However if there is pain and cholecystitis then it is important to be seen by a surgeon and recommended gall bladder surgery after 6 to 8 weeks when the symptoms come down. This is because there is always a danger that the stone can cause further inflammation in future and this can be a risk to the patient. The stone can also get impacted in the smaller ducts transporting bile to the intestine (common bile duct) and cause jaundice and complications.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
