default
Posted on Thu, 4 Feb 2016
Question: I have a patient with ms has small fungal rash behind calf where strap from his leg brace hits... Can he go in swimming pool while being treated with clobetasol?? How can he protect it from future injury to that area as he needs to wear brace but it will continue to hold in moisture in that area... Any recommendations for those two questions. Thank you

Brief Answer:
clotrimazole cream

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
Firstly I would like to tell you that clobetasol cream is not at all advised for treatment of fungal infection. It is a steroid containing cream that is contraindicated in fungal infection.
For fungal infection, topical antifungals like Clotrimazole cream with or without oral antifungals are given. Infected person is advised to avoid swimming till complete cure. Moisture definitely aggravates and worsens the condition.
It would have been better if you could attach images of the rash.
You may visit your Dermatologist in person for clinical examination. You can share my opinion with him. I hope it helps.
Take care.
