default
Posted on Tue, 11 Apr 2017
Question: Hi Doctor, I have sort of fungal infection at my lower back near hips. My doctor has asked me take itrasys 200mg. Is there any ointment which I can use? Also I have itching near and on scrotum due to which scratches are there and they are painful. If there is any single ointment for both of them please let me know.

Brief Answer:
Topical antifungal and oral antihistamine

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

In addition to the oral antifungal you may use a topical antifungal for added effect e.g luliconazole 1% cream/ lotion (Lulifin cream/ lotion) Or Amorolfine 0.25% cream ( Fungicros cream or Loceryl cream). Use it over all the affected areas, twice daily for 2 weeks.

Fungal infections are usually itchy, therefore I would also suggest an oral antihistamine e.g levocetrizine 10mg (Teczine 10mg tab.), once daily, in evening for itch relief.

Thank you doctor for your reply. I've already used lulizol but it didn't help. Actually I got itching after using this ointment only. Is there anything else I could use?

Should I use itrasys with teczine? Or one if them will be fine?
