Suggest Treatment For Frostbite On Fingers

Question: Question regarding a case of 3 fingers with approx. 4 week old frostbite. Went and seen doctor approx. 2 weeks ago. Received prescription for pain, Lortab 7.5. At this time there was swelling, whiteness of skin, but no major discolorations to fingers or nails. Was told that there was nothing that could be done at this stage. Told to also take aleve for inflammation. Asked about antibiotics and was told no need for them now. The fingers have now began to swell more, there is now discoloration of the fingernail area as well as discoloration to the fingers in areas. Pain is increased greatly. At this time the steps being taken are the Lortab 7.5 for pain being altered with Aleve for inflammation, Aloe Vera applied prn, Atica applied prn, Vitamin C with Rosehips, Horse Chestnut, Lukewarm bowls of water throughout the day and night aiding to help with the pain which is starting to now work as well. There was initially bone pain in the fingers that the doctor said was to be expected that is now spreading and growing stronger. My question is there anything that can actually be done to take care of this? I also am wondering about whether or not the extremely callused fingers form being a hard worker and mechanic throughout the years has caused what normally would have been blisters on the fingertips to not be able to occur and was trapped under the skin. When the original frostbite happened there was direct heat warming applied which could have burnt the fingertips as well as continued work outside throughout the next 2 weeks. He is a smoker and has had a smashing injury to the topside of hand towards the wrist many years ago that was re-injured by smashing same area in a tight vehicle space a few months back.
