Suggest Treatment For Frequent Widening Of Eyes And Stress From School
Question: My 8 year old daughter is enlarging or widening her eyes frequently. It started few months back and was once or twice in a day which we could observe. But not for the few days, the frequency has increased. We have shown her to an opthamologist who says the eyes are perfectly fine. Her vision test was also perfect. The thyroid profile tests done on advise by this doctor, is also in the perfect normal range. Could this be due to any stress; schools are very stressful these days. She is standard III but loaded with work and gets unnecessarily tensed over petty topics related to academics. What this could be all about?

1. Eyes when stressed with reading and writing a lot can result in such behaviour. You can make her relax by taking a holiday break. Avoiding mobiles laptops and tablets and restrictions on TV viewing to less than a hour per day will do a lot to releive the eye stress.
Drinking plenty of liquids will help in maintaining hydration.
2. It could also be a habitual mannerism. You can talk to her with a friendly chat over a movie. Try to understand why she is doing so.
If she let's you know the reason that will help in tackling.
If she says it is happening without her control, then stress could be the cause.
