Hello,

I think you should definitely go for D and C biopsy with Mirena coil insertion after the biopsy, to cure the fibroids to some extent also.

What is your age?

Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) is also a good solution for you, if family planning is completed, because D and C will only cure the thickening of the lining of the uterus, it will not have any effect on the fibroids.

It can easily be done laparoscopically and you can go home within 2 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Please feel free to discuss further.

Take care.

So I am emailing the recent reports. Can you have a look and see if hysterectomy is required. If we decide to go for it what are our options. The doctor here last said there are different options we can decide on based on the reports for the kind of operation.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The biopsy report is normal. However, the fibroids do exist. It is better to go for a hysterectomy for a full and final permanent solution.

The best route for the surgery would be laparoscopy (without scar or stitch).

Hope I have answered your query. You can definitely contact me at any time, if you need my help for the surgical procedure.

Take care.

Thanks Doc. If I do go for hysterectomy, apart from laproscopy what other options are considerable. Sorry I donot have much awareness on these. So any explaination would be helpful.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

See, hysterectomy means removal of the uterus.

That can be done in two ways:

1. Cutting open the abdomen (like a Cesarean section) - and removing the uterus, this is called open surgery. There would be stitches and lots of post operative pain, complications and prolonged rest needed, compared to a laparoscopic surgery.

2. Laparoscopy means a camera (tube) is inserted through the navel (belly button) and the uterus is removed.
This is preferable because stitches are avoided, and post operative recovery is faster and better.

Hope I have answered your query.
