Brief Answer:
he needs behavior therpay

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing to us.

From history it seems that he has some anxiety problem. It may be some kind of anxiety disorder ( like generalized anxiety disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder) or personality disorder ( avoidant or dependent personality disorder). For confirmation of diagnosis detail history (from person himself as well as parents and friends/relatives) and mental status examination are needed. These should be done by a psychiatrist.
As he is successful in life there should not be major problem. He can be treated with behavior therapy. Specifically cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) may be useful.

However first step is he should be ready to consult specialist and accept his problem to get rid of it. You can ask any person on whom he relies much and can convince him for consultation. Before that find some local psychiatrist and narrate his detail history to doctor so doctor can guide you further.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
