Brief Answer:
Needs management, gentamicin injections work as well.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. You are having endolymphatic hydrops also called meniere's disease and is very common in age groups 40 onwards. What your doctor has offered is basically a middle ear injection of an antibiotic Gentamicin an antibiotic that's toxic to your inner ear, reduces the balancing function of your ear, and your other ear assumes responsibility for balance. The procedure, which can be performed during local anesthesia in your doctor's office, often reduces the frequency and severity of vertigo attacks. There is a risk, however, of further hearing loss.

I would like you to be fully educated before opting for it. Also you should have knowledge of all other options one can have in management of meniere's disease. One can also go for steroid injections like gentamicin but they are comparatively less effective and also less hearing loss chances.

Also talk to your doctor regarding supportive care like rehab , manet devices and hearing aids etc as these relieve the symptoms as well.

Also discuss surgical options like vestibular nerve sections, endolymphatic sac procedures and labyrinthectomy. Let them decide what is best for you.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Regards
Khan
