Question: Hi, I am having cramping of my fingers a couple times a week. They cramp and take on an unusual shape

Thanks for contacting HCM with your concerns.

You have been having cramps on your hands and fingers. When you have muscle cramps of the hand the muscle will cause your hand and fingers to take on odd configutrations.

Hand cramps maybe due to over use and fatigue. If you do a lot of hand work like typing or needle work. If you are a person doing this I recommend you reduce your amount of hand work.

The other cause for hand cramps could be low potassium or magnesium levels. I recommend that you be sure you eat foods that are high in potassium and magnesium including bananas and fish. Certain medications can cause low magnesium and potassium levels including diuretics or water pills.

You may need to see your doctor to have blood work to determine if your electrolyte levels are
