Suggest Treatment For Coughing Up Of Thick Mucus With Blood

Question: I am a 52 yr old female and I have not smoked in two yrs. I've been running fever for four days, 104 was the highest. It finally broke yesterday afternoon and I sweated ALL night. When it all started, it came on quickly with high fever and headache, it felt as though it was in my lungs. ( I have a history of pneumonia). Since I started using Essential Oils for my illnesses, I've had success. Even with this. Today, I assume it is breaking up and I'm coughing up lots of thick mucus with a yellow and bloodish tint.....I have no more fever and feel good today. Should I be concerned with the bloody mucus.

Brief Answer:
Probably upper airway infection, less likely pneumonia

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

this is more likely a self healing upper airway infection, slightly bloody mucus can occur and if it is temporary no reason for concern. However, if this persists longer than a week pneumonia should be ruled out by your local doc through clinical examination and stethoscope, since this can't be made sure 100% via online advice. If there is no high fever anymore or weakness and it is getting better than pneumonia is less likely though.
