Question: I am scheduled for hernia repair surgery3rd time) on weds. I have asthma /COPD. ITS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY DETERMIBED. I am so sick. Can't breath. Coughing up light green stuff. Sinuses inflamed; I have inhalers. Allergy mess and I used the nebulizer. I am aching all over my body but no temp.
My question is , will the surgeon still want to operate if I'm this sick?

Brief Answer:
Surgeon and Anesthetist would not like to operate in such a situation

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
With the complicated asthma and COPD with light green expectoration, can't breath, body ache and feeling sick no Surgeon would like to operate for anything and never for hernia as anything that increases the intra-abdominal pressure will be a reason for sure failure, and this may be the reason for the recurrence if you are being operated for the third time on the same site.
And the most important aspect is that no anesthetist would feel you to be fit for any type of anesthesia without which surgery is not possible.

Please get the proper medical treatment to come out of the present problem and get the next dates for surgery.
I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
Take care.
All the best.
