Question: Hope you get this, last thread closed on us. I closed it after hcm did,
My snoring has been an issue for years and i have thought of it as a problem sleeping.
I also have recently been using foam ear plugs to quiet the noise from the step kids. I have noticed that i sleep better when using them.

What affects what and how, airways affect snoring or snoring affects small airways.

To your best knowledge, are you now still certain there is no lung disease and just inflammation and panic mediators causing the problems or does nighttime snoring have some issue

I can understand your concern.
To be honest with you, our previous conversation tumble my beliefs.
You are mostly having small Airway disease due to sleep apnea which is further worsening by stress, anxiety and panic.
And you are improving with foam ear plug because snoring sound don't disturb you when you wear ear plugs.

1. If I am not at work, I can fall asleep almost instantly
2. sometimes I have a headache but not often
3. do not know if I snore more when i add weight or not
Could your diagnosis be that easy.
Do not forget that I have been diagnosed in the past with reflux. When I lived on my own, I had a bed that had the head raised to help. I could raise current bed but I would have to convince wife of this and then hope she could get used to it.

I was told by gastroenterologist that to reduce reflux from coming up when sleeping to raise head of bed to keep it in stomach and not throat. He said using pillows was not helpful. It took a while to get used to but eventually i did. only problem is with out a footboard, all the sheets slide down to bottom and off bed. Lot harder to keep straightened.

Yes, raising head end of the bed help in reflux disease. It also help in sleep apnea.
This position causes less pressure of airways, so less snoring and less sleep apnea.
