Suggest Treatment For Chickenpox Scar On Face

default
Posted on Wed, 10 Feb 2016
Question: Hi, I had chickenpox 3 weeks ago and now I have these pinkish pits on my face. I did not pick on any of the blisters but the ones on my face might have got pressed while sleeping, washing my face etc. I'm using Contractubex and Vitamin E oil on these scars. What can I do to best heal these "pits" with minimal scarring? Should I go for laser treatment and if yes, when can I go? Will calamine lotion help?

Brief Answer:
Waiting for some weeks would be preferable

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear

Welcome.

I am Dr V XXXXXXX a Sr dermatologist.

I have minutely examined your pics and assessed details to understand your situation.

For anyone with profile as yours, I would recommend the following:

1 There is hardly a need for immediate intervention as there is a likelihood that most of the lesions might heal quite well and recede to acceptable level.

2 Use a sunscreen SPF 40+ at 1000 and 1300 hrs all days , irrespective of climate

3 Plenty of antioxidant rich diet like vegetables and fresh fruits

4 Have more of cocoa, and high protein diet.

Contractubex might be used along with above measures while calamine will help only to conceal the lesions while moving in social circles.

Results should be encouraging but of course, it can take time.

My best wishes and please feel free to ask anything else that matters.

Dr V XXXXXXX Brief Answer:
Vit E role is not established

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome.

One may use Vit E but its role is doubtful as per my experience of 30 years.
I think minimum intervention helps in the long run.

Same applies to Aloe Vera.

Because of various concerns, it is good to follow simple approach.

Hope you too feel the same.
Best wishes

Thank you Dr V Kumar!
I'm happy to hear that it could heal. Shall I continue using Vitamin E oil? Should I cover it with band aid? I've heard that Aloe Vera gel could help too. I work from home so I can try any remedy.

Thanks a lot once again!
