I had x-ray at the doctor office and the hospital ER. But some arthritis. I have never had this before and don't recall doing anything to cause it. It is only in the right knee. Just started with a little ache, nothing bad, but as the pain became more went to the orthopedic doctor. One time I bent me knee and heard or fel a crack and the pain was so pad, I thought I would pass out. Since the cortisone shot it seems more painful and I am taking Hydrodone APAP 5-325 that I was given after a breast biopsy.

Brief Answer:
It can be knee synovitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello madam,
I think you have developed knee synovitis. This is acute painful condition in arthritic knee. This condition can occur multiple time in arthritic knee. It looks to me your doctor missed the diagnosis by calling it bursitis. Diagnosis can be confirmed by MRI.
MRI will show cartilage damage and fluid collection. It will also help in ruling out other condition like loose body or meniscal tear.
Knee synovitis is treated by following way:
1. Aspiration of fluid from knee and injection of steroid in the knee.If single injection does not work, it can be repeated. Without removing fluid from joint , cortisone will not work.
2. Strong painkillers like Etoricoxib or Piroxicam .You can discuss with your consultant. Oxycodone can also be used.
3. Compression bandage to prevent knee swelling. Apply heat by warm water to knee. Applying ice is not going to work.
4. Avoid squatting and sitting cross leg . Avoid using staircase.
5. Tablet Dicerin daily.
6.If you have not get relief even with these measures then you might need a surgical method like Arthroscopy. In this method all fluid inside knee is washed away with the help of key hole surgery.
I hope these steps will help you in knee pain. Let me know if you want to ask any other question. Thanks and take care.
