Brief Answer:
Probiotics and proton pump inhibitors

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Looking at the clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Burping is due to inhalation of air or production of air in the stomach.

2. Ingestion of air (swallowing of air) during ingestion of food is the commonest cause. Ask her to avoid talking during food time and always breathe in the nose.

3. Next common cause is increase production of gas due to increased acid production. Gastritis commonly leads on to burping. Proton pump inhibitors like pantoprazole will reduce acid production and hence burping. Needs to take it atleast for 15 days to know any changes. 40 mg once daily should be sufficient.

4. Change in bacterial flora leads on to increased air production. Ingestion of probiotics will be helpful.

She can try
a. Avoiding ingestion of air during food time by talking less and breathing through nose.
b. Proton pump inhibitors
c. Probiotics.
d. Using Ginger in food and avoiding large meals (ask her to take multiple small meals) have also known to be helpful
e. Look into the food habits, which type of food increases burping. She might be intolerant to it.
f. Avoid lying down immediately after food intake.

Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.

Brief Answer:
Drugs which reduce acid production.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.

Proton pump inhibitors are medications to reduce acid production from stomach glands. Acid production is known to cause burping.

You can take any brand. Pantoprazole or omeprazole 40 mg, once daily for two weeks, should show results.
Also do follow the other things as we discussed earlier.

Hope it helps.

Brief Answer:
Maybe gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.

Sorry to know about that.

Extreme nausea could have been due to gastritis. However, numerous conditions can cause it.

Hope she is fine now and recovering.
