Question: I am experiencing burning sensation on my lips from past few days. Also I observed that i get same burning sensation when I eat spicy , take hot water bath and while using some lip balms, chap sticks.

I dont like this burning and I have never experience it before. Its winter here and very cold almost 5-6 degree.

is it because of cold? or something else ?

Brief Answer:
Take treatment and precautions as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Burning sensation in lips may be due to extreme cold, or ulcers in mouth.
Is there any history of herpes labialis or zoster. In such case also neuropathic pain occurs.
For treatment avoid extreme hot or cold. Take amitryptiline or pregabalin for pain relief.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thanks for your helpful answer.

Yes I have HSV1 but I never had any outbreak or cold sores yet but pimples sometimes around my lips.

so this burning of lips means the Herpes virus is shedding asymptomatically ?

I feel more burning when I wear chap stick or lip balm on my lip. but everyday I feel that burning sensation while taking hot bath.

is there a way to stop that burning permanently ? or are pain relief sufficient to treat that ?

Thanks again.
