Suggest Treatment For Bumps In Foreskin Of Penis

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Question: I have lots of little bumps (almost like goosebumps or whiteheads or pimples) inside the foreskin of my penis. I am still a virgin so I don't see how I could have an STD.
Is this a sign that something is wrong?

I would be thankful for any help or advice you can offer

Brief Answer:
Fordyce spots, upload pics

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for your query on healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar.

I would like to keep a possibility of fordyce spots. However, I would be able to confirm the diagnosis once I have a look at them. Can you upload a photograph for a confirmatory diagnosis?

Fordyce spots are usually present as clusters of yellowish, asymptomatic bumps on labial/oral mucosa in both the sexes, labia in females, mucosal aspect of prepuce in males. They are actually ectopic (at places they normally should'nt be present) sebaceous glands.

Fordyce spots can become more prominent at puberty under the influence of testosterone.

They are mainly of cosmetic concern without any clinical significance and may be left alone if not very visible.

Treatment is either CO2 Laser vaporisation or destruction with radiofrequency cautery. A dermatologist usually performs these procedures.

Oral retinoids are also helpful, because they shrink the size of sebaceous glands, thus making them less noticeable.

Regards
