Suggest Treatment For Bruising On Inner Thighs And Armpit Bump

default
Posted on Wed, 16 Dec 2015
Question: When i woke up a fee days ago, i noticed tgat my inner tighs had red spots and it was itchy. And when pressed it seemed bruised.

Is it because I fly around quite a lot. And slept in hotels. I do use their soaps and shampoo. Maybe irritation?
The spots can also be found on my just my left hand in between on of my fingers I noticed a small bump like an insect bite which is itchy and 2 small ones Near my armpit area.

I'm not sure but when I inspect my previous underwear when it started, there was lots of weird fabric like thing sticking out which I thought may cause the irritation. And I threw it away.

Either that or sudden increase in weight?

Brief Answer:
Better if you can upload pictures of the affected areas.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.

I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. If the bruising was limited to inner thighs alone, I would have thought of a underwear rubbing the skin. Overtime, the soft fabric, becomes hard and especially, when too tight (maybe weight gain) can rub on the inner thigh side. And in those casesd changing the underwear should help, if it is due to Underwear. A new comfortable set should help.

2. However as you are noticing similar lesions on the hand, it may be related to other cause. I might be able to name few possibilities if you can upload good quality pictures of those lesions here. There is an option to upload pictures on the right side of this page.

3. In the meanwhile if it itches a lot, you may consider using over the counter antihistamines like zyrtec (cetrizine) at night.

Awaiting your reply...

Brief Answer:
Could be fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for replying.
I went through the images. My opinion is as follows:

1. It appears to more likely a fungal infection like tinea.
2. You can use antifungal terbinafine cream or candid powder until it subsides.
3. continue treatment until it completely disappears.
4. Keep area dry. You can wear loose cotton inner wears and maintain good ventilation to the areas.

If too itchy, Cetrizine can be used.

Allergic exposure cannot be thought of now, as newer lesions are coming up, even without any allergen exposure.

Hope it helps.
