Brief Answer:
oral and topical antifungals

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.

Excess sebum production on scalp promotes fungal growth and these in turn eventually contributes to seborrheic dermatitis which itchy papulo-pustular lesions with flaking develops over affected areas.

I would suggest you a course of oral antifungal drug like fluconazole for few weeks. Fluconazole 150mg tablet should be taken once a week for atleast 6 weeks. Also take oral antibiotic like Doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 15 days.

Apply a lotion containing combination of mometasone and terbinafine and a clindamycin solution twice a day over affected areas of scalp.

Use ketoconazole based shampoo thrice a week for hairwash.

Avoid use of hair oil till complete resolution.

I am sure you will be fine with this treatment.
Let me know if you require any more assistance from my side.

Wish you best of health.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
------

Detailed Answer:
The exact cause is not known but it is determined upto certain extent by your skin type and hormones. Seasonal variation is also present.

You can get the following brand names:
Fluconazole - Tab. ZOCON 150
Doxycycline - Cap. DOXY-1
Mometasone lotion- MOMATE lotion
Sertaconazole (Will be better than Terbinafine !) - ONABET lotion
Clindamycin lotion - CLINDAC-A solution
Ketoconazole shampoo - KZ lotion ( Shampoo)

Regular use of shampoo twice a week will prevent recurrence upto great extent.

Hope this was useful.
Thanks
