Question: Hello Doctor. I have recently been diagnosed as having severe panic disorder and signs of depression (beginning stage). Initially I was taking Inderol 20 mg twice daily and Ativan .5 mg at bedtime. For the past 11 days, I have been taking prescribed pari CR 12.5 mg once daily, along with Inderol 10 mg twice daily and Ativan .5 at bedtime. During taking Inderol I could have normal activity, including driving. But after taking pari CR, I feel dizzy, light headedness, no urge to do any activity incl go to work, feeling of helplessness. Can pari CR be stopped after taking for 11 days, or the risks are huge? Or what is your suggestion please

Brief Answer:
paroxetine can produce all symptoms in intial week

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear

I understand your concern.

Tab XXXXXXX cr contains peroxetine and it is SSRI.
SSRI is selective seretonin re uptake inhibitor.

It is used to treat anxiety and depression.

Usually when we start treatment, patients may feel headache, nausea, dizziness etc for 7 to 10 days.
it is intial side effect of any SSRI including XXXXXXX cr.

In clinical practice it will gradually disappear within 2 weeks.

only small amount of period around 25% will have persistent side effect and we have to change medicine.

So my advise to wait for one week and if it wont resolve then need to take opinion of your treating doctor.

if it will persist then change of drug is advisable.

Dose of inderal can be reduced to 10 mg once a day after getting proper response to peroxetine.

I hope I have answered your question.

I will wait to hear from you.

Thank you.

Thank you Doctor

As prescribed, I am having XXXXXXX CR 25 mg since yesterday instead of the earlier 12.5 mg, which I had for 11 days.

Similar uneasiness symptoms are persisting in the morning and stays till about 2 pm, after which I become better and can co ordinate

The increased dosage is advised to have for 3 weeks, since yesterday

My activities are getting hampered. When do I expect t overcome these uneasy feeling and drowsiness, light headedness and get back to normal activity. Is it advisable to drive at this stage. Thank you

Answered by Dr. Vishal Garala (40 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
driving is not advisable if you feel drowsy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear.

Thank you for reply.

No, it is not advisable if you feel drowsy.

If you have more drowsiness then revert back to 12.5 mg for one more week.
After that, you can shift to 25 mg. Please do so only after consulting your doctor.

Better to take it at bedtime if you took in morning then shift it to bedtime.
So take peri cr along with ativan at bedtime.

And if you still feel drowsiness in morning then you can stop ativan also if you have enough sleep in night.

Do not worry everything All rights soon.

still have a query then feel free to ask.

Thank you.

Dear Doctor, Thanks very much

Please advise if it is okay to continue taking Inderal 10 mg twice daily along with XXXXXXX CR 25 mg once? Since I am diagnosed with CAD - severe, I have been told that Inderal enhances depression and hence counters the benefit of XXXXXXX CR

I am also having Metpure XL once daily

Thank you

Brief Answer:
You should take it according to your doctors advise.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for reply.

No There is not such reviews that inderal leads to depression.

Inderal is propranalol and it has one of the role in anxiety.

I have given both together in my patients and it does not counter effect of XXXXXXX cr.
This kind of conditions can be treated with inderal twice in a day with peroxetine 25 mg.

You can take it inderal twice in a day along with XXXXXXX cr but 1st you have to take advise from your treating doctor.

still have a query then feel free to ask.
Happy to help you. Thank you.
