Suggest Treatment For Acne Scars On The Face

Question: I have no idea when these breakouts started happening but it was probably around 2008-2009. I finally got the courage to see a doctor about them in 2014 because I was just so fed up with being so insecure about the breakouts and horrible scars they left. The doctor told me it was pretty much acne and there was nothing I could do about it except have a good diet, drink lots of water and take 3-4 epsom salt baths a day when the breakouts occur. This made me feel even more hopeless and regretted going to the doctor about it. However I refuse to believe that's all it is and there is nothing I can do. It looks awful and I pretty much have no sex life anymore and haven't for the past few years because of these breakouts. Please help! What are these and how can I get rid of them and possibly fix/make the scars less visible etc... I can't explain the location of the breakouts it is on each side below my vagina like I guess the inner butt cheeks? I want to provide a picture but I don't see an option to do so

Brief Answer:
Looks like acneform eruption, capsule doxycycline & benzoyl peroxide gel

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it looks like acneform eruption.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take capsule doxycycline 100 mg once daily at bedtime and apply benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent gel on the bumps twice daily.
For the scars you can use tretinoin 0.05 percent cream at night.
It is a chronic disease and medicines need to be continued for a long time but under a doctor's supervision.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.

Dr Asmeet

This issue started so long ago and out of nowhere. How did I just all of a sudden get this chronic disease? I didn't have any of these issues prior to 2008, what causes this to happen? Should I go see a dermatologist, gynecologist, or regular doctor to get help? I went to a regular doctor the first time and as I said in my first letter to you, she did not help at all! How long would I need to use all of those medications? Side effects? By using the medicine for the scars that you mentioned, how well does it work, will they ever go completely away?

Brief Answer:
Occurs due to hormonal, genetic & immune changes

Detailed Answer:
It can occur due to certain hormonal, genetic and immune changes in the body. It is very common in youngsters.
It is not a very serious disease and usually resolves in few years.
You need to consult a dermatologist as acne comes under the domain of a dermatologist.
These medicines need to be used for atleast 4-6 months depending on the response and under the supervision of the doctor.
They don't have much side effects apart from avoidance of these drugs during pregnancy.
The medicine for scar won't diminish them completely but will help in lightening them to some extent.
For better treatment of the scars you need to go for laser treatment.
