Suggest Treatment For UTI, High Fever And Pain During Urination

Question: Hi, while on vacation in FlA. had high fever sinus pain, swollen glands, painful urination. Went to ER. Put me on Bactrim and said I had UTI and sinus infection. Follow up with Dr. who then change meds. to Zpack. Said UTI was not really significant findings. Feel better now however I did purchase a UTI over the counter test. Took it both days no nitrates but high leukocyte s ? Should I consult my primary?

Although you are on azithromycin which is an antibiotic typically used for respiratory tract infections, the antibiotic should help to treat your UTI as well. So I do not really see the need to visit your primary right away. Wait for a few days and see how you respond to the current Z-pack. If you feel an overall improvement in your symptoms then great, if not then you can go ahead and consult your primary.
