Suggest Treatment For HSV Infection

Question: In September 2016 I tested positive at 3.32 for Hsv 2 with the igg ab test. In December I took the same test and it came back positive at 2.44. The reason I retook the test is because I've read that sometimes low positives are false positives and should be taken again. I've never had any symptoms. I was wondering why my antibodies would decrease verses increase...if this makes sense. I'd think I would develop more antibodies. Anyways, I'm wondering if I should take a western blot test or if I'm just in denial and should except I have it even though my ab levels are on the questionable level and I've had no symptoms.

No further test for HSV is essential.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
HSV infection is not a life threatening disease. The value of the titre has no significance. It is important whether it is positive or not. These values vary time to time due to the body conditions.
HSV infection can remain symptom free especially in a woman. As long as there is no symptom, not to bother about the same.
HSV infection can not be cured completely, but can be suppressed with drugs.
You need to have any more test for HSV infection. You can lead a normal healthy life with HSV infection.

I guess I'm asking why the antibody detected would decrease. I thought once they were created they stayed. If anything they would increase over time.

Brief Answer:
These values are not indicating the antibody titre of your body.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
These test values are not indicating the values of antibody titre against HSV in your body. They are just a reactional values indicating whether test is positive or not with reference to index value or 'cutoff' values at the time of investigation was carried out. It is not any way proportionate to your antibody value. This could be due to out total protein value, immunoglobulin values and other type of infections or proteins found at the time of the test was done. Don't give importance to these values. Your antibody titre had not fallen with or without any treatment.
