Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Rubella(german measels) is characterized by a generalized maculopapular rash that usually lasts for up to 3 days.
Sore red eyes (conjunctivitis) may develop for a few days and may cause itching.
No specific therapy is available for rubella virus infection.
Wash eyes with Normal Saline Eye Drops .

Brief Answer:
German measles

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Rubella (German measles) virus is a member of the Togaviridae family and is different from measles (Rubeola) virus in the family of Paramyxoviridae.

Rubella virus spread from person to person via respiratory droplets.
Individuals with acquired rubella ( as your wife) may shed virus from 7 days before rash onset to 5–7 days thereafter. Both clinical and sub clinical infections are considered contagious.

The duration of protective immunity following measles virus infection is generally lifelong (as in your case). However it does not provide any cross-immunity to German measles virus.
In fact Measles vaccines are often combined with other live attenuated virus vaccines, such as those for mumps and rubella (MMR) and for mumps, rubella, and varicella (MMR-V).

Acquired rubella is usually a benign disease. This disease is often mild and attacks often pass unnoticed. The disease usually last one to three days.

You need not worry, even it affects you.
