Question: I am 66yrs old I have surgeries on my right hip. I was in my early 30's and large fibrous tissue rumors in thr muscle always in the buttocks. They called Desmoid tumorsb. Bi had the first removed it was the size of a flattened footnball. The had to take must of the gluteous XXXXXXX muscle. In two years it's came back as large tumor the size of a grapefoot. They took more muocle i hab radiation With the liner accelotator maxi um in a large field. Another Timor came back with finger size part under the pelvic bone .. The removed as much as they could. So. Another six weeks of radiation in the same field. It was from my waist to middle of the stomach down half way of my thigh. And chemo. Even though they were benign the also added chemo for a year with very strong chemicals. One was cytoxzine. I was sick but continued o that until I couldn't tolerate any more. The tumor did not come back but my hip was very brittle and. Fractured my hip. I have had four hip replace ments. This last has a large ball jutting out. My bones and complete overall is very bad osteoporiosis
regular injections with a bag of liquid Reclast. It has helped a bit now the sciatic musvle is completely dead. I take gabapenitumb every night.nbi have no use of my leg and wear a full leg brace and use a cane or walker. I broke my ankle and it was very bad my leg turns in, and the toes are curled under another surgeon did surgery to correct that and made a small cut in the calf muscle. Now the calf had shrunk and my leg is atrophied to more than half The size of my left leg. I don't have, any use at all. I wish I didn't have this last surgery. I am worse than before what can do to exercise. It's realy bad and physical therapy only worked on my foot The angle swells every day. I am desperate. Is ther a program I can do to rebuild strength to my leg ? I realize this is complicsted so I know it will take time to respond. Thank you for anything I can do. XXXX . YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I have gone through your history

I would advise you to undergo Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) therapy in order to rebuid strenght in your leg

It is a non invasive technique used for muscle atrophy treatment

It is placed on ones skin over the affected muscle and it elicits a sensory effect of decreased pain or a muscular effect through changes of intensity, frequency and pulse of the current which helps in regaining strenght in affected leg
