Suggest The Ideal Dosage For Ativan Taken For Anxiety

Question: I am bipolar 2 and experiencing worsening anxiety . My dr just added .5mg Ativan q4 hours in addition to 1 mg Klonopin bid. Will adding the 0.5 mg of Ativan really make a difference ? The anxiety is constant at this point and debilitating

I think his decision to add 0.5 mg of ativan is commendable and following are the reasons.

Ativan at lower dosage shows good anti anxiety properties and 0.5 mg can be considered somewhat lower dose.

The other reason is that every benzodiazepines have addiction potential and their own side effects so keeping the negative effects of medication in sight the trial of 0.5 mg ativan unlikely to cause any harm of significant degree.

I mean to say that his decision to add lower dose of ativan is well according to guidelines and after through risk benefit analysis.
