Suggest The Ideal Dosage For Acetaminophen And Oxycodone

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: I have been prescribed oxycodone 10/325. Until now I had been getting yellow oblong pills with PERCOSET on one side and 10/325 on the back. Now my pharmacy is giving A333. I know it is a generic and should work the same but it's does it. I have a degree in chemistry and my parents are pharmacists, so could someone explain why I have to take 2 doses of A333 to get the relief from the PERCOSET. My doc is happy to write what I want but all the pharmacies in Philly are now only carrying A333. Please help me understand why there is a difference when there should not be, if the oxycodone pills have a range of oxycodone in them, if A333 are known to be less effective. May I please speak to a PAIN MANAGEMENT doc or ONCOLOGIST.

Brief Answer:
they both have same content, should produce same result.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Percoset contains Oxycodone Hydrochloride, USP 10 mg, Acetaminophen, USP 325 mg. And A333 also contains the same. So they should produce same response. As such there is no difference in them. They have same strength of oxycodone in them.

I will suggest you to speak to your consultant regarding it. On examination he will decide whether you need higher dose than one which you are taking now. As I do not know your medical history, but based on the information, I would suggest you to recheck the strength of each ingredient in a333.

I'll be glad to address your further
Take care
