Question: I do an interval training boot camp 4x/week. This morning while doing box jumps I missed the box and scraped my shin badly. I taped a bag of ice to my shin and stayed in the class. This afternoon my leg and knee are swollen. Is this normal? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Get xray done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

To make exact diagnosis get xray of leg with knee in AP and Lateral view and send me the report.

Icing is effective only fir first two days.

Till then apply pain killer ointment crepe bandage from foot to mid thigh.

Take aceclofenac + serratiopeptidase combination three times a day by prescription of your family doctor.

Avoid standing, squatting and upstairs as much as you can.

Always try to elevate limb while sitting and sleeping.

I hope it helps.

Thanks.

Dr.Singh.
