Brief Answer:
needs vestibular tests/blood tests.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having dizziness. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any ear pain or ear discharge ?
Is your dizziness associated with head-ache or nausea ?

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be fluctuation of BP or blood sugar or BPPV (benign positional proximal vertigo).

I suggest you to consult ent surgeon, give detailed history (medications), ent examination (vestibular tests to differentiate central or peripheral vertigo). blood tests (blood sugar, serum electrolytes and hemoglobin percentage. If necessary ct scan brain to know any vascular abnormalities.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

HI there,
No ear pain or discharge. My ears feel fine. No headache or nausea. I do take 10mg. of Lisinopril once a day for blood pressure. It's been like this for about an hour and a half, but is starting to clear up now. If I sit I'm fine, but when I stand up slowly and look around or walk, I was getting dizzy feeling and a little unbalanced when walking. Never had this feeling before.

Brief Answer:
postural hypotension.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

It looks like orthostatic or postural hypotension, occurs when there is a sudden and significant decrease in the systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure when a person stands up. It occurs within three minutes of standing.

I suggest the following measures, to overcome your dizziness.

1. Drink enough fluids (1.5 – 2 litres or 6 – 8 glasses per day).

2. Discuss with your physician about medications of Bp. (strength can be altered).

3. When waking up in the morning, sit on the edge of the bed and do calf muscle exercises for 5 minutes before standing.

4. Avoid quick position (postural) changes. If symptoms appear, sit down quickly and wait for them to subside.

5. Avoid prolonged standing, hot environments, and excessive alcohol use.

6. Compression stockings that are applied up to thigh level may help to decrease the pooling of blood in the leg veins.

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.
