Suggest Remedy For Soreness On Chest Muscle After Accident

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: Almost two months ago, car accident, steering wheel airbag deployed, striking chest. Immediate sternum (mid-chest) discomfort, but not broken, and next day a lot of chest muscle soreness (what I would describe as "body whiplash"). Now body soreness is gone, but have since noticed a deformity of the manubrium--what I would describe as an uneven increase of the bone, below the clavicle, and adjacent to the coastal cartilage of that top rib, and there is a slight amount of soreness in that area. Can you tell me what happened at that area, and is it permanent, or will it decrease, or maybe go back to pre-injury status?

Brief Answer:
Most probably Hematoma and soft tissue injury

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

Most likely it is subcutaneous Hematoma and soft tissue injury which has lead to roughness. It seems nothing to worry as there is little soreness only. Analgesic such as ibuprofen for pain relief. Vitamin B and C is helpful in recovery. It will likely to resolve spontaneous with passage of times. It is unlikely to be any fracture or bony injury however you can get its x ray to rule out bony injury.

You can discuss with your Doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.

Take care.
