Suggest Remedy For Persistent Knee Pain
I'm a 35 year old male working to get in better shape and I had a question about flat feet and running.
I've had a problem knee since childhood. It used to occasionally painfully buckle (felt like the kneecap popped out of socket with the whole knee collapsing)? I was given therapy exercises, which I now do at least 3X a week, and it hasn't happened in probably 3 years+ now, which is great!
I'm also trying to lose weight, and part of that is a treadmill/incline trainer, which I'm walking/running (it's a mix really) on 4X a week for 36 minutes. I hope to increase that to 45 minutes beginning next year (where it will probably stay at as I think that's a good goal to aim for).
My knee feels pretty good most of the time, but sometimes aches a bit during/after - nothing horrible, and it's not every time.
My question is this. As a kid, I had to have prescription arches for most of my child/early teen years. I don't remember when or exactly why, but I kind of just stopped using them at some point. Now I wear regular shoes, though the running shoes I use are for overpronators (Asics Gel-Kayano 22's, which are advertised for mild-to-moderate overpronators).
Should I be okay with these, or should I check into seeing about prescription arches?
Thanks!
The shoes seem to be alright.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild ache after the exercise on the legs can be due to muscle fatigue also. It is not likely to be associated with any flat foot or other deformity of the foot. The shoes that you are using are alright if there is no persistent pain after the exercise. You can continue using them and see that your intake of fluids after exercise is adequate. You can take Garotade for that.
I hope this answers your query.

You can use the overpronation shoes.

Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You can use the shoes for overpronation but do get the arches if you have persistent flat feet. Your knee will not be damaged but can cause mild stress on your feet.
Hope my answer is helpful.
