Brief Answer:
It is Acne Rosacea, manageable if aggressively treated !

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for consulting and your trust in HCM means a lot to me as a Physician.
I have completely reviewed your health query, and well realize all those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

I feel really sorry for the health issues your daughter in law has. It seems she has one of the commonest types of Rosacea (The papulopustular type). In this disease patient gets the redness, rashes started on the cheeks and spreads with time and may involve whole of the face, ears, chest and front or back of the neck too.

It is manageable if vigorously treated. We need to go for its treatment in two steps. First of all potent agents to kick the management in and to take the control over the disease . Once under control we need to keep it under remission as this can relapse if we stop treatment once remitted.

If I was her treating Physician I would have prescribed her with Tacrolimus ointment; Prednisolone Oral; Metronidazole Oral antibiotic if not allergic to; Tretinoin topical; Benzoyl Peroxide topical to be applied on the acne areas.

You may consult the local Dermatologist or her primary care physician to start the treatment right away as this is very necessary for better chances of recovery.

Factors to be considered:
Harsh climatic exposure on frequent basis and direct sunlight aggravates the issue.
Taking plenty of water and more of vegetables, fruits and salads lead to better results.
Alcohol, anxiety, stress, Topical steroids, spices and junk fried foods may cause exacerbation.
Keep the face clean for better output. Don't use towels. Air Dry after washing.

Hope I answered all of your queries. Let me know if you have further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you.
