Question: There is a open wound in the area between my anus and private area. It doesn't hurt but it sometimes has an odor

For how long has this wound persisted. Please specify the time line.
Is there blood or pus or any discharge from the wound
Are you diabetic
Have you had any previous surgeries done
Is there a history of trauma to the perineal region where the wound is
What medication are you currently using.

I noticed the wound about 3 days ago. there is pus and blood sometimes only if I XXXXXXX it with a tissue. there is no discharge in my underwear. I am not a diabetic and I haven't had any surgeries and there hasn't been any trauma to the area

Hello again.

Based on the information you provided and the image you uploaded. I would advise that you keep the area clean and dry to avoid further contamination. Try to shave off the adjoining hairs in the region of the wound. Mupirocin or triple antibiotic first aid creams such as neosporin should be applied after antiseptic cleansing with povidone solution. The pus and discharge should be sampled by sending for culture and sensitivity testing. After sampling. antibiotics such as augmentine at optimum dose should be initiated to prevent complicated infections, abscess or fistula formation. Your GP can guide you further regarding further management. I would advise to consult a general surgeon if the wound persist despite the above measures.
